I wonder who first called it the blackout Explorer back in 1989/1990. I’m going off topic for a moment. Back in 1989 my junior year of HS in Chicago. House music was the music most Chicagoans/kids grew up with. In the DJ community and nightlife scene there was a dance track by Lil Louis called Blackout. It was a Chicago underground club classic. What made this elusive track more special was that it was a very limited pressing at the time. It was soooo difficult to find and many DJs from other cities would pay over $300 - $800 bucks just for a copy. Even for us Chicago DJs it was difficult to find. At first it wasn’t a big deal but when it’s hard to get everyone wants it. Blackout was released inn1989. Lil Louis is a Rolex guy, and owns an Explorer 36mm. So I wonder if the name and song title had any connection hence the title Blackout?
